Recomposure is an album made for me. This past year, I've reached some major personal milestones, and I've also done a lot of introspection. That's where this album comes from.
A year ago, I sat down and wrote Make Sense of It Later on the piano. I missed the piano. After producing so many hyper-detailed tracks, I wanted to get back to the core of songwriting; just writing interesting melody and harmony. After I finished writing the song, I recorded it in an hour and added the background noises from my balcony. This piece really sums up the album: don't overthink the production and just write the best melodies I can on the most beautiful instrument there is.
Recomposure isn't a permanent departure from my more "produced" electronic music; I'm already working on the next ablum of that kind of thing. But it also isn't a throwaway experiment. This music means just as much to me as any of the music that came before it, if not more. My voice is still in there, even if I don't sing.
