The Allright Family Band was formed in 1976 in LA, came to Maui in 1977 and released there album in 1980, great musicians formed the band between Venus and Malibu California.
Bill Buck Rodgers on Keys and vocals, Bruce Bandera-guitar vocals and song writer, Kimon Costos- Drums, Donnie Numart- Harmonica, bass and song writer.
All seasoned musicians playing clubs from Las Vegas to California decided to all write together which when the songs were formed together than formed the name Allright Family Band.
Under the management of Robert Blackwell known for his discovering of Jimi Hendrix and others. We decided to stay in Maui and take a break from playing in the mainland and start to record our album, other great people that were hanging out in the islands who became into the band Sky Saxon from the "seeds" at the time, Steve Wasserman Saxaphone, mainly known from the "Doobie Brothers" David gage on guitar and bass, and a young Hawaiian musician Henry Kapono/Cecilio and Kapono/columbia records later became Hawaiian superstars and many other various musicians, Kieth Fernandez on congas and of course you cant have a family without the ladys, that included Naomi Summers, Stephanie Moore Rodgers.
The Alright Family Band made one album and it is pretty much hippie rock, so-so at best. Sky is listed as a band member but his contribution is limited to "Starry Ride", the one good song on the record.
Warning: It isn't the Seeds. Though you can certainly hear the Sky Saxon in it and that hypnotic repetition of a basic riff that marks classic Seeds songs, this years and brain cells removed from "Pushin Too Hard".
To me, this version of "Starry Ride" is to the Seeds, what "Wild Honey" is to "classic" Beach Boys. So here ya go, the Alright Family Band version of "Starry Ride". Enjoy.
