Picnic is the third album by Boudewijn de Groot, published in early 1968. The album is clearly inspired by albums such as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club from The Beatles and Pet Sounds from The Beach Boys from the flower power era. On the LP side 1 and side 2 are separately titled, respectively 'Picnic' and 'The Garden of Delights'.
The music from the Picnick album falls within the genres of psychedelic rock - in the songs Picnic and Ballade From De Vriendinnen For One Night De Groot, inspired by George Harrison, uses the Indian string instrument the sitar, and Baroque puppet songs are mostly accompanied by an orchestra. melodic piece of music performed by a string or wind orchestra.
The album has a more experimental character than the previous album For the survivors. A number of songs have an experimental structure and a striking choice of instruments. Picnic, for example, starts with a sitar solo, which changes into an orchestral part via sound effects. Only after a minute does the first verse begin. The accompaniment of the next part is an alternation of a percussion guitar and orchestral string parts. (google)
