yeP!onymous was the first, "eponymous" album by Amherst, MA based jam band yeP! (often misspelled, as in iTunes, as Y.E.P. or yep, once even being billed at a live show as YES, to some minor consternation). yeP! was active (even hyperactive) from late 1992 through early 1998, and was one of the first wave of "third wave" jam bands to follow in the then-growing "phootprints" of Phish. With lush production and engineering, yeP!onymous captures the live, adventurous spirit and talents of yeP! at a level of quality far beyond that achieved by most indie band's first albums.
A quote about yeP!onymous from the Home Grown Music Network catalog:
"Get to know the band that Relix has called 'One of the most entertaining, not to mention musically exciting jam-groove bands that has emerged in the 90s.' Consistently Home Grown bestsellers, yeP!s studio album 'yeP!onymous' (and live double disc 'Bosco's Magic Shop') demonstrate their widely-praised diversity and sense of fun. TFVS magazine readers voted them one of the Top 3 East Coast Jam Bands; take a listen and decide for yourself."
yeP!onymous received universal critical acclaim, and achieved record sales for an album that was distributed entirely independently. It was the most popular unsigned local album through Newbury Comics for several weeks running, as well as the #1 selling local album in the Pioneer Valley according to local record stores. While the CD itself is out of print now, yeP!'s career overlapped the digital music revolution just enough that their catalog is still mostly available online.
