Clark Terry, 79 at the time of this recording, sounds in remarkably fine form throughout the live set. Featured in Germany with his regular band of the time (altoist Dave Glasser, pianist Don Friedman, bassist Marcus McLaurine and drummer Sylvia Cuenca), C.T. mostly sticks to standards, sounding quite strong on Count Basie's "Miss Thing," "Jumpin' At The Woodside" and "Blue 'N' Boogie." Two versions of the rather basic "Herr Ober" give Terry an opportunity to scat in his mumbles voice. Glasser and Friedman get a fair amount of solo space, but the main reason to acquire this disc is for the typically joyous playing of Clark Terry.
