Scat, energy, joy, fun, dance, and then ... funky, soul, jazz, blues, the pleasure of playing and being together: it is the essence of Nu Joy, the eleventh disc of Gege Telesforo. From the powerful attack of bass and drums of the first song, Go On, we immediately understand the direction that the music will take; or scat, drums (J. "Avatar" Telly), double bass (Giuseppe Bassi), piano and sax (Max Ionata) to dictate the beats of an adrenaline piece and directed like a punch. The album goes off like this, between a tormenting and sad ballad, A New Joy, sung with depth by Greta Panettieri, at the funky voices of All I Have To Say. Last Goodbay opens with a whispered duet between Telesforo and Panettieri. It is a rhythmic piece that stretches towards the ballad with the voice of Arnaldo Santoro, who insinuates herself soft and narrating, weighed by the piano of the promising Domenico Sanna. Give Me Your Hands is full of arrogance with his dirty r & b, rapped, stradaiolo, designed by Dario Deidda's electric bass. The Available for Wedding choir shows the quiet taking refuge in a hint of gospel and blues atmospheres, amidst the whispers of drums and the return of the piano. Instead Diamonds pushes the rhythms further south, including samba, percussions and colors of Brazil, chased by the skat of Telesforo and the baritone "sugary and toothless" by Alfonso Deidda. So much trouble, then, flows into No Woman No Cry, a slow ballad in which Telesforo with soulful voice recreates in his own way the vibrant emotions of the famous song by Marley. Ionata and Sanna do the rest on sax and piano. To all skat and electronics, however, opens Jojo Step, which continues unaltered under the assaults of keyboards and sax. Asshole pulls you off the couch and pushes you to the dance, chased by the rhythm section, from the turns to the sax of Deidda and the provocative skat of Telesforo. Dalla's song is turned on black, on the explosive force of the beat. Nu Joy ends on the dancing notes of I ..(google)
