As with her previous record, Young weaves together a smooth, attractive blend of soul, urban rhythms, and jazz, laced with lyrics that are rooted in every day experiences. Her words are honest but uplifting, and her ability to convey real emotions makes her songs relatable and moving.

Young has a sound that blurs the lines between different genres, but it always maintains a straightforward and sophisticated tone which brings substantial warmth and class to the mix. The album is ultimately touching yet it is also lighthearted and entertaining, exploring deep personal themes in such a way that makes them transparent.

Young has been singing since the age of 12, and the passing of years has given her voice range and sharpness. Young debuted in 2011 with Possessing the Promise (Self Produced), and her growth as an artist can be easily seen. Comparisons to Sade and Anita Baker are inevitable; however, Young holds her own. After all, the best songwriting is all about building a powerful connection, and Young excels at it on this gripping release. For fans of modern R&B who still have affection for the old-school style, it is essential listening.
