EEEKS - Pet City (2017)

"In the exercise of writing I have discovered that what makes them unique is the melange pop culture references and tongue in cheek performances, conjuring the spirit of 60s surf rock already exposed to psychedelia, and other elements of the year of our pop culture lord. Metamodernist musicians par excellence because of their eclectic and albeit somewhat obscure homages to the playful sincerity of a kauffman-esque performance, their inability to end a show properly as if unwilling to deliver a punchline, much in the style of a Monty Python sketch, west coast surf rock, french new wave amp arrangements, Beatle-mania, the hard rock innocence of an Andy Warhol band, Mo Tucker, Tiny Tim. They root their originality in the ironically unoriginal, while at the same time delivering a much needed creative drive to the Paraguayan music scene.

Like in a Roy Lichtenstein sound-verse, the band's name is a reference to a comic book onomatopoeia. Their absurd sense of humor goes beyond their music, and it manifest itself in the construction of outrageous characters like the banana man, or for example, the fact that the outro song on their first EP (2014) is their longest song, lasting longer than their first five songs combined.

Not much is known about these musicians, other that they refuse to perform on a regular basis. Their frontman is a professional jazzetier, their rhythm guitarist is the prodigal son of a version of 90s-on-Americana, the bass player looks like a dada artist, the drummer keeps the pogo temperance, the keyboardist provides the zany 70s sound. It doesn't matter, they like irreverence. Of that much I'm certain." ~ Lucas Alcazar
