WasHomeAnyway - IWasHomeAnyway (2018)

IWasHomeAnyway is now-defunct project of Berlin-based producer Bartek Prosuł a.k.a. Yoshii Swxdn and singer Nela Szadkowska. Inspired by glitch, aesthetics of "deliberate failure" and a "less is more" approach, their debut EP is a collection of dense, adventurous songs, somewhere between contemporary avant-pop and electronic avant-garde. Nela's ethereal vocals glide among Yoshii's cut-up rhythms, deep bass notes and self-conscious errors, angelic melodies melt in the waves of organised digital chaos. This EP, recorded in 2016 in Berlin's legendary Funkhaus studios, sounds firmly on par with some of the biggest avant pop records of today; sadly the project is - as for today - finished, with both artists pursuing individual projects in music (Yoshii) and art (Nela) worlds. Nevertheless, this record is a valuable document of one of the most unique Polish electronic music acts of recent years.
