Al Marconi - Heartstrings (2018)

British acoustic guitarist, Al Marconi realizes a new acoustic path for 2018, tagged: "Heartstrings". Marconi heads in a slightly different direction on this date; offering other, than his usual, neo-flamenco brilliance.

On this rendition, he plays classical interpretations of standard pieces. The result is total excellence, and the clarity of his technique on 'Cavatina' is simply beautiful, and is further exemplified, on the latin-tinged 'Romanza'.

The artist tackles a few cinematic-inspired tunes on this issue, most notably: 'Love Story' by Carl Sigman. Along with 'Les Parapluies De Cherbourg', and the 'Windmills of Your Mind'; both penned by composer Michel Legrand respectively. Beethoven also gets the classical nod, on Marconi's treatment of 'Moonlight Sonata'. He finishes the set with the very-poignant 'International Velvet'. This CD, should be a great acquisition for those fans of Francis Goya, or Alex Bollard.

Marconi is a premier instrumentalist, and this album only adds to his reputation. He cements his place as a world-class, guitar-talent with "Heartstrings". This would make an excellent companion to some fine wine, and conversation by candlelight. Very nicely, done.
