Motoko & Myers is a collaborative project of Daniel Letson and Wonja Fairbrother. Wonja created the “Wood Glass Metal” series of mixes, and Dan has released under the name DJML for Jacktone and From Them Depths. Together they host their weekly b2b DJ show “Herzog Hideout” on Chew.tv, which is a wonderful and wide-ranging blend of music old and new.
Their debut album is a collection of melodic electronic experiments composed and edited over the course of the last year in a makeshift home studio in Oakland, California. An intuitive exploration of unusual tunings and irregular phrases, conjured from forgotten FM boxes, toy synthesizers, and primitive samplers. Layers of improvised loops are aggregated into liminal song-scapes: Hazy sound baths, autonomous arpeggiations, and microtonal dub.
