Flatt & Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Jamboree (Expanded Edition) (2005)

Emerging from Bill Monroes band, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs would go to surpass the achievements of their mentor and become the best known bluegrass group in the genres history. In Earl they had the leading banjo player of all time, whilst Lesters abilities on the guitar and mandolin perfectly complemented his partner. Add to this their writing and it is obvious why and how they became so popular. Foggy Mountain Jamboree was their first album, released in 1957 on Columbia. Although it did not chart at the time, it has become a steady seller in the decades following its appearance and a perfect introduction to bluegrass.
