Tracks 2,3.4,6 and 11 were originally released on the album Ubuntu — Humanity in 1996. Recorded at the SABC studios in Durban by Peter Thwaites. Mixed by Chris Lewis at Ronnie Scotts studios in London. Ubuntu-Humanity, Sipho Gumede's second solo album for M.E.L.T.2000 is a predominantly instrumental album featuring the cream of South African musicians and many other artists from the Outernational Meltdown, including Pops Mohamed, Madala Kunene, the late Moses Molelekwa, Mabi Thobejane, Barney Bophela and Zim Ncqawane. Ubuntu, an inherently African concept, encapsulates the values of being honest, sharing with those in need, passing on what you know to the young, respecting everyone, saving life at all costs and criticizing constructively. Track 12 was recorded in October 1994 during the Outernational Meltdown Sessions at Downtown Studios in Johannesburg. It was released in 1995 under the title Jazzin' Universally. The aim of the sessions was an exchange of rhythms between musicians in order to break the forced isolation during the years of apartheid. Born in Brazil and a musical spiritual healer by faith, Airto Moreira, the mixer on this track, is widely hailed as the world's greatest percussionist. Recorded by Peter Thwaites. Mixed at The Sound Design Studio in Santa Barbara, California by Airto Moreira and Robert Trunz.
