Despite a short-lived career due to his untimely death at age 31, Franz Schubert left behind a great body of compositions which have been treasured by musicians for more than a century. + The work featured on this release, the String Quintet in C major, was Schubert’s final chamber work. Completed just two months before the composer’s death, it is widely regarded as Schubert’s finest chamber work as well as one of the best in the entire chamber music repertoire. + One of the most prominent Polish chamber ensembles, the Camerata Quartet was founded in 1984 and since then has acquired one of the largest followings of international artists and critics. They are joined here by cellist Marta Kordykiewicz.
