Niklas Worgt aka Dapayk Solo follows his 2015 long player No Filter with this sprawling masterpiece. "Zoe's Intro" is an atmospheric, synth-led composition, while on the title track, Worgt deploys a muddy, murky bass to add an extra dimension to his trademark minimal house sound. Both "Aurora" and "Flood" see the German producer pursue this low-end led style even farther, as layer upon layer of sub-bass provides a basis for trance melodies on the former and Komplement's dramatic vocals on the latter. While clattering rhythm tracks like "Blackout" and the speak and spell tones of "Low Tinnitus" show that he hasn't deserted the trademark Dapayk Solo sound, The Calling does mark a transition to a more rounded, musical take on techno.
