'Trappist' is the second offering from the band. The album was written and recorded by Oceanic at Apex Productions in Dartmouth, NS over a two-year period beginning shortly after the release of 'Origin' in 2014. Unlike 'Origin', which was composed over a tumultuous lengthy period with ever changing setups and musicians, 'Trappist' is a focused effort that brings together a truer essence of the term 'trio'.
During the creation of Trappist, the three members branched off into a variety of other musical directions and endeavours. To diversify the album, the band decided to have four songs ('Arabic Spring', 'Holy Mountains', 'The Serac', & 'Path to Elborz') produced as a group and three songs ('Emissary', 'Sefid Rud', & 'Damavand') produced and written by the individual members.
With a complete rediscovery of band dynamic and the application of extended range instruments, Oceanic have strived to reach new depths of sonic space and emotion while keeping the grit and earthy prog rock they are known for.
