When A Man Loves A Woman (1966) features the huge million-selling title track, Sledge's first R&B and Pop # 1 and his eternal signature tune. It also reached # 4 in the UK, and # 2 in 1987 when it was used in a Levis ad. Warm And Tender Soul (also 1966) contains his three more R&B hits: "Warm And Tender Love" (R&B # 5 and Pop # 17), "It Tears Me Up" (R&B # 7) and his version of "Love Me Tender". The booklet includes lengthy annotation by acknowledged expert Tony Rounce.
