White Demons - Bleed It Out (2017)

Oxford's Living Dictionary defines a survivor as “a person remaining alive after an event in which others have died" and “the remainder of a group of people or things." White Demons, a maximum rock and roll gang of four from Phoenix burst forth in 2004, made their impact with one album “Say Go” (released in 2006 on Sonic Swirl Records) that has taken on mythical heft ever since punk music legend and impresario Kim Fowley heard the title track for the first time and personally furnished the band with a pull quote to the band: "Their masterpiece "Say Go" indicates they can write a savagely stupid epic. If they have an album's worth of material this good, they are destined to be the first bad boy band of the 21st Century to make a difference."

Who could resist such apathetic nonchalance as demonstrated by front person Nick K snarling life lessons like ”I’ve got eyes dripping down my sleeve/You like the way I underachieve” and ”If you ran my smear campaign, would you turn around and do it again?" behind a holy hail of guitar shrapnel and rapid fire timekeeping. Although White Demon’s survivor status is tainted somewhat by the fact that the band took a self-imposed dirt nap for ten years, but better to get in, say your peace, and get out if you’ve got nothing else to add—isn’t that the punk rock way?

As it turns out, original members Nick Kokoros (lead vocals & lead guitar), Patrick McKay (bass & vocals), Mike Christie (guitar & vocals) and new addition Jack Obregon (drums) do have something to add and they managed to come back on the scene with their mission statement intact, to combine the riff-rock basics of AC/DC with the guttersnipe wit of '70's punk like the Dead Boys & Johnny Thunders.

A lot has happened in the interim. Original guitarist Tony Krank and drummer Jay Lien (Vern) decided to leave the band to pursue other musical interests. Songs from “Say Go” like the title track, “Tear It Up” and “Spit on My Liver” have turned up in movies (American Pie, The Naked Mile, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Sniper Reloaded) movie trailers and television shows (Shameless, 90210, Glen Martin, DDS, Lie to Me, Fat-N-Furious, XOX Betsey Johnson and the Canadian TV series Whistler). The high octane of White Demons can also be heard fueling such video games as Don King Presents: “PRIZEFIGHTER” and The Guitar Hero Demonstration Video. As for the former, let’s just hope that seeing what effect the visceral gut punch of “Say Go” has on a CGI Don King’s hairline is some kind of Easter Egg waiting to be discovered.

You won’t have to wait much longer to hear and discover new “Action Rock” (White Demon’s sound as described by a local reviewer in the band’s very first sliver of press coverage). White Demon spent the year 2015 writing the long-awaited follow-up record to “Say Go” and returned to Mind’s Eye Digital Studio in November 2015 to record once again with engineer/producer Larry Elyea. The ten-song album, titled “Bleed It Out” is scheduled for an early 2017 release.
