Following on from the success of Eggshell, Alev Lenz is gearing up to release her second album titled Two-Headed Girl (private link), which was recorded and produced in London’s Premises Studios.

For the album, Alev enlisted the services of acclaimed Finnish drummer, Samuli Kosminen (Múm, Hauschka, Kronos Quartet, Jónsi). Samuli Kosminen came as a recommendation by Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco, who notably also offered to mix the album upon hearing rough demos.

Months of Dropbox sessions from London to Helsinki and back resulted in 12 finished songs, all with incredibly unique and contemporary sounds.

In contrast to her first album - which was fully produced by esteemed Hip Hop producer Philippe Kayser (Freundeskreis) - Alev decided to take the producer role on herself.

The result is an album that demonstrates a diverse set of influences, from European classical to experimental electronics.

Alev Lenz, is a remarkable songwriter, composer and singer, whose music fuses filmic, world and classical influences. Her bittersweet voice and utterly personal lyrics, loaded with melodic flavours and inspiring hooks that take you by surprise, off kilter harmonics and deep and compelling song structures, have often been compared to songstresses like Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor.

Alev Lenz may not be a household name just yet, but since the release of her debut album back in 2009 in her home country of Germany, now London-based Alev has kept herself busy with gigs in London (including The Vortex, the hub of the capital’s Avant jazz and electronic scene), New York and across Germany, as well as composing soundtracks for several high profile German films, and collaborating with established artists such as Anoushka Shankar and Lucy Claire.

Furthermore having recently signed to MannersMcDade Publishing - who also take care of prolific artists such as Nils Frahm and Poppy Ackroyd - Alev is now ready to release in June 2016 her second full-length album titled Two-Headed Girl, which is looking to take the summer by storm.
