London based alt rockers, Suzerain release of their brilliantly psychotic single 'Frenzy' and new album 'Identity'. Suzerain have taken things up a notch. Following on from the band's previous singles 'Dark Dark' and 'Good Day', 'Frenzy' ups the tempo and hits you bang in the chest from the get go. With haunting slide guitars and frenetic drumming, you're truly hearing the inner world of singer Tom Pether's mind. 'Identity' is a dark mix of industrial, progressive rock that is contemporary and has, at times, striking lyrical content. From the drum and bass lead opener of 'Anytime' and the powerful sonic punch of 'Always', through to the explosive singles 'Dark Dark', 'Good Day', and 'Frenzy', to the more laid back thought provokers of 'I Know You So Well' and 'Edging Out', Suzerain have delivered an almighty second album. While the pulsating beat of 'Palm Of Her Hand' takes you back to early Queens Of The Stone Age, the haunting 'Black And White' drips with a dark electronic vibe that Nine Inch Nails could only strive for. Finally, the interlude of '200' gives the listener a chance to take it all in. Throughout the album, Suzerain continue to showcase their sheer talent for songwriting. With a varied selection of songs, ranging from the relaxed, through to the outright deranged, this album comes as the perfect distillation of their dystopian world view. 'Identity' was produced by double Grammy Award winner Steve Lyon, who has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode, Siouxsie Sioux and The Cure. Sit back and take note. Suzerain have returned, primed and ready to get inside your head.
