A collection of catchy original folk-roots songs by this all female quartet with a focus on soaring harmonies, strong rhythms and clean mandolin pickings. Songs run from insightful love ballads to rollicking political hootenannies.
This all-female quartet features the award-winning songs of Vancouver-Island-based homesteading mama Genevieve Charbonneau. With Kelly Sherwin on upright bass, Laura Carleton on percussion and Chandra Crowe on mandolin, the music of the Wild Sundays is rooted in folk and old-time country, incorporating bluegrass rhythms, Americana, and pop.
After the immediate success of her award-winning solo album, “Updraft”, Cowichan Valley based singer-songwriter Genevieve Charbonneau sought to bring together a group of talented and creative women to back her up. Genevieve recruited musicians from her other creative projects including the Balkan Babes and KivaBEAT, and with the addition of an old friend with a mandolin, “Genevieve and the Wild Sundays” was formed.
Two years later, the Wilds hit the studio with Wynn Gogol from One Ton Studios and recorded 12 original songs for their debut album, “Fine Line”. The songs, which run from insightful love ballads to rollicking political hootenannies, are characterized by layers of sweet vocal harmony, solid rhythms and clean mandolin pickings. Guest artists on fiddle and banjo round out the folky, acoustic sound of the band.
