Gary has been writing music/songs since the age of 12. He has been in many Rock Bands through the years most notably "LMNO" from 1994-1997, Pop Band "Meritage" from 2008-2010, Alt/Rock band "Shoulda Brought Tom" which he found with collaborator Jon Kuppinger from 2010-2013. Gary also played the coffee house gigs in 1999 and 2000. In addition to the band he has put out a couple of full length CD's of original material titled Gary Dunbar "LP" in 1995, and Gary Dunbar " This Is You?" in 1999. In 2000 he wrote and released a two song single cd of a ballad titled "Millennium" for the occasion of the new Millennium (2000) with an Instrumental Surf song titled "Riptide". During his time with LMNO and Shoulda Brought Tom he wrote a dozen songs and co wrote many more with Jon Kuppinger. The SBT recording sessions were never finished and are waiting to be finished and released at a later date. Some of SBT's songs can be seen on YouTube recorded live in San Jose.
Gary is a full time Firefighter and parent of 3 growing children. All his kids are musically inclined and play drums, bass, piano and sing. He spends a lot of his free time working with them on their musical abilities.
At this time Gary is writing and recording a new full length 10 song Cd titled "Yep, That's Me". He's quite proud of 4 of the songs that were lyrically written by his brother in law John Holland III. Gary says, " yeah one day John sends me these poems he wrote and asked what I thought? I read em' and said can I turn these into songs? He said sure that'd be great, so I wrote the music for them and added hooks and there you have it. I love the way they turned out, one of the songs called " I Can Write", I gave it a country rock sound to it, my first endeavor of that genre and I'm pretty proud of that but my most favorite is a song called " My Love" man that's a good song, it really makes me feel good everytime I listen to it!" The rest of the songs were written by Gary. One of the most notable songs is a song he wrote for his daughter to sing the lead vocals titled "Strong". He is very proud of the way she took charge of the vocal arrangements of the song and how it came out. Another song features his son playing Bass on "Boys Night Out". The album is still in production and recording awaiting some Lead Guitar work from his longtime friend and musical partner Renzi Gapay. "We are hoping for a release date of March 1st 2016, if all goes smoothly, and I would like to release it here on Reverbnation as a grand premier!"
Gary has future aspirations of writing more songs for his daughter so she can release a full length Cd and to start promoting her talent as well. There will be more to come in the future. "I look forward to releasing my songs whether it's my own performance or handing over the reigns to my daughter Nicolette and working on building a career for her. She has a very unique voice and I think she can take it far, I'd love nothing more than to work with and write songs for her." But in the meantime he really wants to get this latest project out there for You to hear!
