Two very individual artists and voices, Aidan Casserly and Kriistal Ann, come together on a touchingly beautiful concept album 'Muse'.
The concept and approach is very simple; two singers driven by their mutual inspiration and respect for each other perform duets of original songs, all with fragile beauty and tenderness. Each person being the 'Muse' to the other.
Written and recorded in Dublin/Ireland and Rhodes/Greece, 'Muse' is a truly magical collection, dark at times, melancholic and pleading the next.
To quote Aidan Casserly -
"The moment I heard Kriistal Ann I was immediately drawn to her as a person and into her world of music and art. It was like a thunder bolt of excitement, respect and deep love.
I've always admired and revered singers that stand out from the crowd. When Kriistal sings I hear the truth, I hear her heart and soul as one, speaking through her songs and performances.
We had previously dueted on some songs for my electronic project Glass Dancer, to very favourable reviews. She inspired this idea to do a 'Muse' orientated concept albums. Duets of original songs, for Kriistal and I to perform. Funnily enough, I was quite nervous and shy about asking her and delayed getting in contact for a few weeks. I wasn't sure she'd agree to recording a full album, in an acoustic/contemporary style. But to my great surprise and happiness she immediately said yes, and within a month we had completed the first few songs.
I am so proud of working with Kriistal and excited about 'Muse' as an album. I honestly feel I will listen and enjoy and treasure this collection myself for years to come."
To quote Kriistal Ann -
"When I first heard Aidan sing, I found myself drifting away from reality .. Aidan is one of those artists who transforms reality into a clear dream, by taking advantage of a drop to irrigate the whole meadow.
That rare human quality who faces things, with such depth and sensitivity, that it gives you, the listener, the potential to adore him more.
The idea to create this album together was a joy. With his support and understanding, about the imperfections of my voice, it made me feel safe within this experience. Especially in a time where we battle to hold on to diversity so much.
"Muse" as an album is about how two people, with different cultures and languages, who take inspiration from each other, simply by speaking the language of the soul. I consider myself so lucky for this experience.
Besides the symbolism we all know, the Muses in ancient Greece, also symbolize the greatness of art; not only in form but also in content. It is bright and mild in its form and today it personifies and consoles, by bringing art and morality into people's lives."
