Put The Blame On Me is the second of Norwegian Birgitte Soojins twin album releases. Where the first Swing Low, was a tribute to especially African-American spirituals, this second album a tribute to Elvis Presley. The talented singer who sings with a rare gravity and depth, celebrating so the king 70 years of swinging versioning of nine of his numbers. And she does it superbly! As she builds a bridge between Presley and the Afro-American jazz scene before him amounted to the rhythmic music scene in the United States. An interesting thing is that Birgitte Soojin - which is seconded by Ida White on bass, Steen Nikolaj Hansen on trombone and Frands Rifbjerg on drums - has not chosen to focus only on Presley's most famous numbers, although she also wrestling with tracks like Love Me Tender and Are You Lonesome Tonight? The strongest of the album is her versioning of as The Bullfighter Was a Lady, Gonna Get Back Home Somehow and Put the Blame On Me. Again, there is talk about a minimalist, very heartfelt album that gives the impression that Birgitte Soojin have the ability to focus and dry simplify.
