Phillips calls his style, mixed music: an organic fusing of elements from many different influences into something personal, different and new. Part chamber orchestra, part big band, part contemporary alternative group, Numinous is a flexible and unique ensemble of up to 25 musicians founded in 2000 by composer Joseph C. Phillips Jr. to perform his music. The six-part Changing Same was a 2013 Ecstatic Music Festival commission.
