On their new CD „El Galeón 1600“ Bremen based early music ensemble „Los Temperamentos“ takes the listener on a voyage between two worlds: a journey taken by many after the European conquest of Latin America. Los Temperamentos trace their path in a musical way as they revive those travelers’ spirit with an extraordinary repertoire of sentimental songs as well as lively Tonadas and joyful instrumental music from Italy, France and Latin America. Including selections from the „Archivo Musical de Chiquitos“ and the “Codex Martínez Compañon”, and composers such as Merula, Scarlatti and Stradella.
The ensemble „Los Temperamentos“ was founded in 2009 and specializes primarily in music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The ensemble members hail from Hungary, Germany, Mexico and Colombia and their widely diverse backgrounds allow them to engage in a unique dialogue reflecting the intercontinental relations between European and Latin American societies that persist today on both a political and a musical level. In their concert programs, they combine the multifaceted musical styles of their respective cultural heritages in order to highlight the colorful richness of early music. In the past year, in April 2014, the ensemble released their debut album “De la Conquista y otros Demonios”, which received excellent reviews.
