Solaa formed in christchurch new zealand during 1997. An 11 piece live band that's directed by key members david wright (keyboards/production), kurt dyer (percussion) and isaac aesili (trumpet/vocals/production). 'steps in time' is solaa's debut album and displays the best of their broad sound - from hip-hop and r&b to soul and driving funk - this is an album that will appeal to a broad spectrum of fans. They've performed alongside popular new zealand acts such as mark de clive-lowe, dave dobbyn, katchafire, salmonella dub, che fu, and shapeshifter. Solaa have received plenty of international airplay from luminous fans including mr scruff, dj benji b (bbc 1xtra) and new york dj monkone (wbai). 'steps in time' includes tracks co-produced by devin abrams (shapeshifter) and tracks engineered by simon grey who has worked with jamiroquai, angie stone and incognito. Solaa are also releasing a 'steps in time' remix sampler vinyl 12" with remixes by internationally renowned producers nicolay (amsterdam) and recloose (detroit, usa / wellington, nz).
