Salvatore Martirano - The SalMar Construction (2014)

Belgium's Sub Rosa has been going for absolutely ages, and since the '90s it has released some particularly wonderful electronic music. This latest EP comes from new artist Salvatore Martirano, who proceeds to drop some more electronic jazz on the label's roster. Calling this "conceptual" would be wrong, but Martirano certainly has a plan on his debut EP. Part 1 of the SalMar Construction is veritable experimental music, where field recordings meet submerged beats and deep soundscapes with dashes of noise. Part 2 transforms into a heavier, Kevin Drumm-style framework. For those who don't know, that means gnarly swirls of feedback and whole load of modular tripping. Recommended.
