Barbara Dickson - The Platinum Collection (2004)

Barbara began as a folk singer but established her reputation as a singer of easy listening pop music. Her popularity is not obvious from a reading of the UK singles charts (she only had six hits, most of them minor) but her albums always sold well.
Barbara's UK hits occupy the first six tracks of this collection, appearing in chronological order. Of course, the biggest hit by far is I know him so well, her duet with Elaine Paige that made it to number one, almost selling a million copies during its chart run. Of her other hits, Answer me (a cover of an early fifties song) made the top ten, while January February just failed to do likewise.

Another song here is Tell me it's not true, from Blood brothers, a West end musical that Barbara starred in. It wasn't a hit but it is one of Barbara's most significant recordings.

Apart from the hits and Tell me it's not true, Barbara recorded many other fine songs. I particularly like I believe in you (written by Barbara, not to be confused with several different songs sharing this title), Run like the wind and It's really you.
