VA - African Shakedown (2012)

** Repress Alert! ** A limited label debut, presented in fine green marble, this is an attractive proposition before we even put the needle down. The star of the show is Noema's homage to 1989 Ghanaian pop/dance track "Daa Niyaa" (look it up on YouTube, the video's got line dancers and everything, it's ace). Softening the angular, heavy handed use of the synths, Noema's paid respect while pushing it forward. The full length version of Nigerian's queen of song Christy Essien Igbokwe's "You Can't Change A Man" comes a very close second.
