Pop melodies bursting with a folky sound and sensibility, "Older." is Bay Area singer-songwriter Amy Matarazzo's debut release. Produced by Joe Stevens of Coyote Grace, the album is a tribute to growing up but staying young at heart.
Public school teacher and musician, Amy Matarazzo is a New Jersey native who now calls the Bay Area home. Growing up, Amy played brass and percussion, and later picked up the guitar to write her very first songs in college. Amy’s songs are diverse, genuine, and artfully crafted stories about identity, love, growing up, and often, good looking girls.
“Older.” is Amy’s debut release, which was produced, recorded and mixed by Joe Stevens of Coyote Grace. Amy first met Joe in 2009 when she decided to check out a queer, sultry folk duo she read about in the East Bay Express. Amy rented a car, packed her guitar, and drove up to the Russian River to sit on the water banks, play some tunes, and later see Coyote Grace perform. Right before the show, Amy heard that the band had accidentally left behind their guitar. Amy offered her instrument to the band for their show, and a tiny connection formed. Fast-forward four years later: Amy reads on Coyote Grace’s email blast that Joe is offering his talents in one-on-one songwriting workshops, and Amy reaches out again. Joe tells Amy that her songs don’t need work shopping – they need to be recorded. A few months later, the album “Older.” is born.
