Lux Deluxe spent the better part of the past two years honing their songs and their sound as they sought to merge the divergent personalities of the musicians — three cousins and two friends — into one distinct band identity that reflects their growth as a group since they first began playing together in 2009. The result is It’s a Girl. The album was recorded live-to-tape at Spirthouse Studios in Northampton, MA. It’s a Girl features 10 smart, catchy tunes that evoke Lux Deluxe’s influences — think revered veterans like the Beatles, The Band and NRBQ, along with latter-day favorites including Wilco and Dr. Dog — while moving the band out from under their shadow.
