Saturday Sun - Orixé (2014)

This is the debut album from Swanage four-piece Saturday Sun and it's full of wintry sadness. They make music echoing in parts Drake's 60's acoustic sound, but with an added fusion of folk, rock and blues recalling maverick John Martyn, with a touch of psychedelia, early Pink Floyd style. The mixture of influences creates a sound built on gentle, but intricate acoustic guitar work, but one that sonically grows into something bigger, with lush expansive melodies. Vocalist Alex Hedley's range veers from falsetto to an earthy, almost growling baritone, giving even their most gentle tracks emotional weight.
